Jeep WAGONEER

Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are constantly confused and they are different cars at different money. The Wagoneer is the more affordable one: conventional coil suspension, less chrome, a simpler interior and the Hurricane in its lower state of tune at 420 hp. The Grand Wagoneer comes with Quadra-Lift air suspension as standard, a black roof, real American walnut and Palermo leather.

The engine depends on the year. All of our 5.7 HEMI V8s are 2022 and a few 2023 — after that there is not one. From 2023 onwards the car is entirely the 3.0 Hurricane, a twin-turbocharged inline six. The Hurricane is more powerful and more economical, but it is technologically complex and will not take an ordinary LPG conversion. Which engine a car has is settled by the year, not the trim.

In Europe the model is not offered through the dealer network at all, because of the size and the engines, so every Wagoneer in Bulgaria is a private import from North America. There is no European version to compare against and no local service habit — body and suspension parts are ordered from the States. The gearbox, though, is a ZF, and the Grand's air suspension can be refurbished here.

The L version is 31 cm longer and reaches 5.76 metres. That is longer than a long-wheelbase S-class and it does not fit a standard Bulgarian parking space. What you gain is the boot behind the third row, which grows by nearly half — the car stays a load carrier even with all eight seats occupied.

The Wagoneer S is a third, entirely different car and should not be confused with the two above. It is fully electric, from 2024 onwards, and has nothing to do with either the HEMI or the Hurricane. If you are looking for the full-size petrol SUV, that is not it.
