Alright, pull up a chair, let me crack this one open for ya. So we got ourselves a 2019 BMW 740i, big fancy German barge, RWD, built out in Dingolfing – that's the good plant, not some slapped-together side gig. Under the hood you're lookin' at a 3.0L turbo-six pushin' 322 horses through an 8-speed slushbox. Loaded up too – lane departure warning, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, adaptive LED headlights, the whole nine yards. This ain't no stripper model, this thing came from the factory dressed to the nines. Now here's where I gotta put my beer down and get serious for a sec, 'cause the driver side of this car took a beating somewhere in its life. Startin' at the front-ish section of the driver door, there's a good horizontal crease runnin' along it – moderate damage, impact-style, the kinda thing you get when somethin' clips ya good. That same crease keeps on truckin' down the door, mid-height, wrappin' around and showin' up from multiple angles, so this ain't just a little door-ding from a shopping cart, this is a real "somethin' hit me" crease. Then if you follow that damage on back, the driver side rear quarter panel's got its own dent and crease goin' on too, right up against the rear wheel. And just to top off the whole driver-side sob story, the right rear tail lamp's cracked up – discolored, maybe some internals rattled loose in there too. So what's my professional, slightly buzzed opinion here? You got three separate impact points, all linin' up down one side of the car — door, quarter panel, and tail lamp. That's the kinda pattern that makes an old mechanic's eyebrow go up, 'cause it smells like this car mighta been in a decent scrape at some point, somethin' that clipped it along that whole side. Now I ain't sayin' the frame's tweaked or nothin' — I got no measurements or frame report in front of me — but it IS worth havin' a shop check the structural alignment and make sure nothin's outta square back there before you hand over your cash. Better safe than sorry with a car this size and this price tag. On the paperwork side — VIN comes back clean through NHTSA, no red flags in the decode itself. There IS an open recall to be aware of though: campaign 18V465000, covers the crankshaft sensor firmware on a buncha BMWs includin' the 740i — bad firmware can mess with reading the crankshaft reluctor ring and cause a stall, which ain't great when you're doin' 70 on the highway. Good news is the fix is free, dealer just swaps the sensor, no cost to you. Worth confirmin' if this particular VIN already got that recall work done. Bottom line: solid, well-equipped luxury sedan, but she's got a story to tell on that driver's side — door, quarter panel, and taillight all took hits. Get a proper alignment/frame check done, confirm that recall's been handled, and if all that comes back clean, you're probably lookin' at a decent deal on a nice 7-series. Just don't skip the inspection, 'c
