BMW X6

The logic is the X5's, because it is the same car with a different roof, but the trap is sharper. A European buyer does not even entertain the idea of a rear-drive X6, and in California, Texas and Florida they are common. The listing says simply "X6". The difference at resale here is substantial.

The engines are the X5's and read the same way: the F16 on the N55, the G06 on the B58 for the 40i and on the newer N63 variants for the 50i and M50i. The B58 is the least troublesome choice here as well.

A rear impact on a G06 is a financial trap the X5 does not have. The tail light is a two-part unit with a specific light signature running across the whole tailgate, and the rear bumper, the diffuser and the tailgate itself are expensive and hard to source. A rear-damaged G06 looks cheap in the photograph and is not.

The panoramic roof is the second. On the F16 it is a conventional sunroof, but on the G06 the glass is enormous. After a rollover or a side impact that twists the roof, replacing it is serious work rather than cosmetics.

Equipment is packages, as on the X5. The X6 is positioned as the sportier and dearer model, though, so American cars often leave the factory with M Sport; without it a G06 looks bare from behind. The Iconic Glow Grille, the illuminated kidneys, exists only on the G06 and is much wanted in Europe.
