Audi Q8

There are no 'Ultra' compromises or dry-clutch boxes here: every US Q8 has the 8-speed classic ZF (Tiptronic) and permanent mechanical Quattro with a Torsen. In the stock it is all quattro.

The only mainstream US engine is the 3.0 TFSI V6 (335 hp, EA839), with a 48-volt mild hybrid and a lithium-ion battery under the boot. The big factory problem is the Continental starter-generator (BAS) — it fails suddenly, cuts the car out while driving, and needs an expensive revised-part repair.

The body is specific: the doors are frameless, so in a side hit the seals, glass and mechanisms are hard to find in the yards. The Singleframe grille and the HD Matrix LED headlamps with laser sections run into the thousands each. If the lot has adaptive air suspension, its deformation in a front-end hit pushes the bill into five figures.
