The A5 (F5/F5.5, 2018–2025) is among the most stylish cars to import from the US — Coupe, Cabriolet and the practical 5-door Sportback, loaded with packages. The real trap isn't the drivetrain — it's the convertible's soft top.

The US A5 comes in a wealth of body styles — Sportback, Coupe, Cabriolet — almost entirely on petrol. Against the 'mostly front-drive' worry, quattro is effectively universal in the stock: front-wheel drive barely reaches the auctions. The US market does technically offer a '40 TFSI' FWD (a convertible from the sunbelt especially), but it is rare — run the VIN, but expect quattro. On the AWD versions the Quattro Ultra system disconnects the rear axle when cruising.

The engine is the 2.0 TFSI (EA888 Gen 3/Gen 4) — lively, free of the old oil consumption, but with two faults: leaks from the plastic water-pump/thermostat module and temperamental exhaust sensors.

The cosmetic trap is the convertible. On the Sportback and Coupe the panels and glass are European-compatible and found in the yards; on the Cabriolet the soft top, its hydraulic mechanism, the seals and the specific rear glass are exotic here — a hit convertible means roof parts strictly from the US.
